Saturnalia Series #1 is part of a series of paintings I created for St. Paul based shop, We The Starborne’s Saturnalia celebration. I wanted the series to feel like a carnival, full of bright colors and whimsical shapes and lines.

The watercolors I used are made from gemstones, carefully crafted with love by local artist Seth Stratton.

“Saturnalia is an ancient festival honoring the God Saturn. Saturn is said to be the God of time and keeper of rules and divine order. Saturnalia becomes a time where we allow ourselves to break free of earthly limitations, revel in the nectar of our humanness, and celebrate our individual contributions that make up the kaleidoscope tapestry of collective existence.”
